Video is vital to building a business these days…you might not like it, but it’s the truth! Consider the following statistics from Hubspot:
- 50% online video now accounts for 50% of all mobile traffic
- 65% of video viewers watch more than 75% of a video
- 55% of people watch videos online every day
- By 2018, 79% of consumer internet traffic will be video
- Using the world “Video” in an email subject line boosts open rates of 19%, increases click rates by 65%, and reduces unsubscribes by 26
So what does this mean for small businesses? VIDEO IS QUEEN. And you better get used to it.
“But I’m scared! People will see I’m too __________(fill in the blank!)”. I know, I know.
It’s time to move past our fear of using video and instead decide to embrace it. Facebook just launched Facebook Live on all IOS devices, which means that you can record and post video without ever leaving Facebook. Periscope and Blab are live streaming platforms that let your each your fans right from your smartphone. It’s getting easier and easier to make and use video.
I was scared to show up and let people see that I’m overweight, and on the other side of 40. I wasn’t sure if people would take me seriously because of this, but I tried it. And I have to tell you, my business changed over night. People felt more connected to me. They told me I was helping them grow their businesses by showing them the tools and tricks I’ve learned over the years–by utilizing video instead of only the written word. Women bought my programs and wanted to work one-on-one with me because now they TRUST me. Video is an amazing way to earn trust, and in turn, earn people’s attention.
I know it’s scary, and that maybe you don’t feel like you are pretty enough, or skinny enough, or have hair extension enough! But if I can do it, you certainly can, too. I made a free guide to help you out and teach you some of the basics that I’ve learned.
So many women that I work with are terrified of showing up in their business for fear of being judged. But here’s the irony–we need to see you and feel your authenticity in order to fall in love with you. So don’t be afraid to use video…just learn how to use it so you look and feel the best!
P.S. I wrote about making my first video here: My Inner Melissa McCarthy: I’m Plus Size and I am Going to Do A Video!
